Vid: The Graveyard Near The House
Vidder: kowaiyoukai
Fandom: Doctor Who, Series 5-7
Song: The Graveyard Near The House
Artist: The Airborne Toxic Event

Vidder’s Notes: First of all, much love and thanks to my beta siriuslyyellow. She helped me through every iteration of this vid—and trust me on this, there were plenty. Also thanks so much to 221_Otsanda and exorcisingemily on twitter, both of whom took the time to give me some very helpful feedback.

This video was the first time I’d ever vidded: solely from one character’s perspective, a threesome ship, a five minute long song (nearly—4:56), using Doctor Who as a source, AND using a fandom that I’m new to (watched Series 1-7 in two months) and haven’t seen everything that’s out (started from 9). So it was quite a learning experience.

This was an intensive labor of love that was completed at the end of February. The reason I waited so long before posting was that I had hoped to go to Vividcon this year to premiere it. However now that I know for sure I won’t have the money to go, I decided not to wait any longer. This vid’s been ready for three months. It’s time.

I originally was going to write long notes about the process of making it, but I nixed that idea. The only thing I truly want to say is that Doctor/Amy/Rory is my DW OT3. I hope this vid did them justice.

I’d love to hear your comments! Thank you for watching!

“When I was in high school, I was obsessed with Mary Wollstonecraft; she was one of the very first feminists ever. My friend and I were always making videos, and we made this movie called Mary Wollstonecraft and the Renaissance Rangers. It was like a Power Rangers spoof, taking all these historical characters out of context. Mary Wollstonecraft, Robespierre, and Marie Curie—they would all fight crime together. This is the kind of stuff I used to do.”

DC vs. Marvel (via)

YES. FUCKING YES.

ALL THE YES

This is the reason I’m not too keen on DC, and why I adore Marvel, perfectly summed up and I didn’t even realize it until I read it.

I mostly agree, but man, the Nolan Batman trilogy was sheer GENIUS.

My family is from Nigeria, and my full name is Uzoamaka, which means “The road is good.” Quick lesson: My tribe is Igbo, and you name your kid something that tells your history and hopefully predicts your future. So anyway, in grade school, because my last name started with an A, I was the first in roll call, and nobody ever knew how to pronounce it. So I went home and asked my mother if I could be called Zoe. I remember she was cooking, and in her Nigerian accent she said, “Why?” I said, “Nobody can pronounce it.” Without missing a beat, she said, “If they can learn to say Tchaikovsky and Michelangelo and Dostoyevsky, they can learn to say Uzoamaka.”

I know these aren’t innocent men. Mercenaries. Outlaws. Killers for hire. But I keep hurting them after I know they’re not going to tell me anything. Because they deserve it. And because I’m angry. And helpless.
